OWNERSHIP SOCIETY was the way President George W. Bush described his vision of a future America unfortunately not long before the foreclosure crisis and financial collapse of 2008. "We're creating...an ownership society in this country, where more Americans than ever will be able to open up their door where they live and say, welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property." These drawings use images of houses in foreclosure, some before they're even fully built. A series of gouache paintings reflect the relationship between desire and economic security. Graphite and cut paper; 6 x 8 feet. Gouache on paper; 11 x 15 inches.
